Treasure Temple Quest Camp

RoboCraft: 5‑Day Roblox Studio Camp — Build a “Treasure Temple Quest” (Ages 6–12, Individual Projects)

Parents: In one week, each child creates a simple, playable top‑down treasure‑hunt game in Roblox Studio. They’ll learn events, sequencing, loops, gentle variables, UI, and beginner scripting—wrapped in a clear daily plan with built‑in differentiation for returning coders.

Kids: Make your own Treasure Temple Quest! Explore rooms, collect golden idols, solve plate puzzles, dodge friendly traps, and unlock the final treasure door. By Day 5, your game is ready to play and share!

Project Model

Every student builds a personal “Treasure Temple” in their own Roblox place. Daily features stack into a complete game: start area, rooms, collectibles, plate puzzles, gentle traps, a key door, and a win screen. Helpers can share ideas, but each map and script is individual.

Daily Structure

  • 4 one‑hour sessions per day (S1–S4)
  • Individual projects with short peer playtests for feedback
  • Differentiation each session: “Try This First” + “Level Up” tasks

Day 1: World Start — Rooms, Doors, and First Events

Outcomes: Lay out a small temple with 2–3 rooms, add doors, and script simple interactions.

  1. S1 Studio Tour Activities: Explorer/Properties basics; place Parts; anchor; set Materials (stone, sandstone); color coding.
  2. S2 Room Builder Activities: Build a lobby and two side rooms; group Models; add signs and arrows.
  3. S3 First Events Activities: ClickDetector on a door to open/close; print message to Output; simple debounce to prevent spam.
  4. S4 Mini‑Showcase Activities: 1‑minute demo of your temple layout and one working door.

Level Up: TweenService to slide doors; pressure plate that toggles a light; torch Props with SurfaceLight glow.

Day 2: Treasure and Keys — Variables and If/Else

Outcomes: Add collectible idols/coins, track counts, and lock a door until enough treasure is found.

  1. S1 Collectibles Activities: Create a golden idol Part; on Touch, +1 to a treasure variable; play a sparkle sound; hide the idol.
  2. S2 Key Door Activities: If treasure ≥ goal, open the “Treasure Gate”; else show a friendly hint in a GUI label.
  3. S3 Checkpoints Activities: Add a checkpoint plate; on Touch, save CFrame; respawn to last checkpoint if a trap triggers.
  4. S4 Test + Tune Activities: Adjust treasure count needed; place idols where they’re visible but not too easy.

Level Up: Show “Treasures: x/y” in a GUI; add a hidden side key that instantly unlocks the gate; gentle hint NPC using ProximityPrompt.

Day 3: Temple Tricks — Plates, Patterns, and Timers

Outcomes: Build a simple plate puzzle, add a short timed bridge, and organize project folders.

  1. S1 Plate Puzzle Activities: Create 3 floor plates; correct order opens a door; wrong step shows a red light and resets.
  2. S2 Timed Bridge Activities: Step on a button to spawn a bridge for 5 seconds using TweenService; then safely retract.
  3. S3 Room Polish Activities: Add torches, signs, and arrows for clarity; folder setup (Rooms, Collectibles, Puzzles, UI, Scripts).
  4. S4 Playtest Activities: Neighbor test: “Is the puzzle clear?” Collect feedback and tweak timings.

Level Up: Randomize the plate order per run; add sound cues for correct/incorrect; seed input for repeatable puzzles.

Day 4: Friendly Traps — Hazards, Respawn, and HUD

Outcomes: Add gentle traps, safe respawn, and a small on‑screen HUD for treasure count and hints.

  1. S1 Gentle Hazards Activities: Rolling boulder or “floor is sand” zones; on Touch, brief effect then respawn to checkpoint.
  2. S2 HUD + Hints Activities: GUI shows “Treasures x/y” and a hint label; update text when plates reset or gate opens.
  3. S3 Balance Activities: Tune trap speed and plate timing for fairness; ensure bright lighting and clear contrast.
  4. S4 Iterate Activities: Two full runs; remove confusing props; rename and comment scripts.

Level Up: Add a mini‑map arrow that points to the next room; easy/normal toggle that changes bridge time and trap speed.

Day 5: Final Chamber — Win Flow and Showcase

Outcomes: Complete the treasure chamber, add a win screen, and present your game.

  1. S1 Final Gate Activities: When goal met, open the Treasure Chamber with a door tween and confetti particles.
  2. S2 Win Screen Activities: Show “You Found the Treasure!” GUI, play music, and display coin count.
  3. S3 Polish Activities: Color pass, path arrows, tidy folders; add a “Reset Quest” button.
  4. S4 Showcase! Activities: 1–2 minute demo: collect treasures, solve the puzzle, open the chamber, and share one script tip. Badges: Puzzle Pro, Treasure Tracker, Debug Star.

Level Up: Optional “photo mode” at the treasure; track best time this session; secret golden idol worth +3.
