Parents: A chance for students to explore the fundamentals in coding through Minecraft Education. Students will explore block coding through events, conditional statements, and repeats to create builds and solve challenges in Minecraft. No prior coding experience required.
Kids: Create your own world in Minecraft! Learn how to control you agent to build towers, rollercoasters, and so much more in Minecraft. Show off your Minecraft skills to complete creative problem solving and challenges.
4 one-hour sessions per day (S1–S4)
Outcomes: Learn basic coding strategies to make creative worlds and problem solve.
S1 Events and Coordinates
Activities: Campers explore how to start code based on events and understand the coordinates in Minecraft. Students will learn how code their agent to replace the ground with a yellow brick road. As an extra challenge, students will code their agent to build a tower.
S2 Loops and Conditions
Activities: Students will learn about loops and "If, else" statements in with block coding. Students will learn how to code their agent to chop trees and collect resources using conditional statements.
S3 Rollercoaster Fun
Activities: Campers will learn how code a basic rollercoaster! They will use events and action blocks to build their own rollercoaster and get a chance to test it out.
S4 Make it your own!
Activities: Campers will apply everything that they have learned to build their own theme park. Students can modify their rollercoaster code to make it their own and code their agents to build structure in their theme park.
