Camp Topic: Math and Logic Puzzle Camp

Think & Tinker: One-Day Math and Logic Puzzle Camp

Parents: A joyful, hands-on day of math play designed to build flexible thinking, number sense, and perseverance. Campers in grades 1–3 explore patterns, logic, numbers, and spatial reasoning through guided puzzles, games, and hands-on activities. The day blends quick warm-ups, collaborative problem-solving, and independent challenge time in a supportive environment where students learn to explain their thinking and enjoy the process. Level Up options are included for older or more advanced campers in grades 4–6.

Kids: Crack codes, solve mazes, spot patterns, and outsmart tricky puzzles! You’ll try fun math games, build with shapes, solve number challenges, and share your clever ideas with friends.

Project Model

Campers complete a one-day “Puzzle Pack” that mixes number puzzles, logic activities, visual/spatial challenges, and mini-games. Students use hands-on tools and puzzle materials to explore different ways of thinking and problem-solving. Activities are designed for grades 1–3, with optional Level Up extensions that offer more challenge for grades 4–6.

Daily Structure

4 ninety-minute sessions per day (S1–S4)
Short huddles, pair shares, independent puzzles, and coach check-ins
Differentiation built into each session with Try This First for grades 1–3 and Level Up for grades 4–6
Tools: Puzzles, pencils, mini-whiteboards, pattern blocks, tangrams, linking cubes, cards

Think, Solve, and Share

Outcomes: Practice pattern recognition, logic, number reasoning, and spatial thinking while building confidence as a problem solver.

S1 Pattern Detectives
Activities: Campers warm up with “Which one doesn’t belong?” and pattern hunts, then solve puzzles involving repeating and growing patterns, shape rules, and what comes next. Students use cubes or pattern blocks to build their own patterns.
Words: pattern, rule, repeat, grow, shape, sequence.
Try This First: Finish simple patterns and build your own with blocks.
Level Up: Create a multi-step pattern and explain more than one way to describe the rule.

S2 Logic Sleuths
Activities: Explore clue-based puzzles, sorting challenges, and beginner logic grids using pictures and icons. Campers practice using evidence, crossing out choices, and rereading clues carefully.
Try This First: Solve simple picture-logic puzzles with 2–3 clues.
Level Up: Solve a larger logic puzzle or create your own clue puzzle for a partner.

S3 Number Ninjas
Activities: Play target number games, solve missing-number equations, and explore equality as balance using cubes, cards, or number challenges. Campers learn that there can be more than one path to the same answer.
Try This First: Make target numbers and fill in missing numbers in equations.
Level Up: Find multiple solutions, compare strategies, or create your own number riddle.

S4 Shape Shifters and Puzzle Showcase
Activities: Use tangrams, pattern blocks, maps, or maze puzzles to practice spatial reasoning and geometry thinking. Campers finish with a mini showcase to share a favorite puzzle and explain how they solved it.
Reflection: What strategy helped you solve a tricky puzzle? What did you try when you got stuck?
Level Up: Solve a more complex tangram or maze, or design a puzzle for someone else to try.
