LEGO Robotics: FIRST LEGO League Challenge

Get ready to build, code, and innovate! In this hands-on class, students will design and program LEGO robots to take on exciting FIRST LEGO League (FLL)-style challenges right here at Blue Ridge Boost. Guided by experienced STEM coaches, participants will use LEGO robotics kits, challenge-inspired mission tasks, and team-based problem-solving to bring their ideas to life and test their skills in a fun, supportive environment.

Throughout the session, students will strengthen critical thinking and engineering skills as they explore robot design, coding, testing, and improvement. Working in teams, they will practice solving challenge missions similar to those found in FLL while building confidence in both robotics and collaboration. The class is designed to help students develop the skills used in FLL competition settings, while keeping the experience engaging and accessible for all learners.

Our Approach:

This class emphasizes hands-on learning, teamwork, and creative problem-solving. Students will:

• Learn to build and program robots using LEGO SPIKE Prime kits.
• Work in small groups to develop teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Practice solving FLL-style robot game challenges inspired by real competition tasks.
• Explore the engineering design process through testing, revising, and improving robot performance.
• Engage in fun and interactive missions that connect robotics to real-world innovation.

Perfect for students in grades 3rd–4th who are new to FIRST LEGO League or want to strengthen their robotics skills in a supportive setting. No prior experience is required—just curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm for building and coding.
