Robotics is where creativity, problem-solving, and technology come together. Designed for middle school students, this yearlong course introduces the fundamentals of robotics through exciting, hands-on challenges. Meeting for one hour each week during the 2026–2027 school year, students will explore how robots move, sense, respond, and solve problems using a variety of robotics platforms. From coding with Indi Sphero to building and programming with Spike Essentials, WeDo, and an introduction to Spike Prime, students will gain practical experience while developing confidence as young engineers and programmers.
Students will complete a variety of hands-on robotics activities throughout the year. The course includes 8 sessions of Indi Sphero, 8 sessions of Spike Essentials, 8 sessions of WeDo, and an introduction to Spike Prime.
Students will learn:
This course combines guided instruction with hands-on, in-class exploration. Students will work independently and collaboratively as they build, code, and test robotic systems.
Each part of the course focuses on a different stage of robotics learning:
Students will use tools like:
Through design challenges and coding tasks, students will develop creativity, collaboration, perseverance, and problem-solving skills.
This course is perfect for elementary school students who are curious about technology, building, coding, or problem-solving. No prior experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to explore!
From coding robot pathways to building interactive machines, this course gives students an exciting introduction to the world of robotics and the skills behind it.
